As a Montanan, Your Odds Of Seeing Bigfoot are 1 in 20K!

Bigfoot

A writer for the website Satellite Internet has dug through the BFRO (that's the Bigfoot Research Organization) and has gone through the reported sightings, comparing them to population density. Then he listed the top five states for Bigfoot sightings per capita, and Montana rounds out the list.

So while there are other states with more Bigfoot sightings reported, Montana exceeds most of them in terms of the likelihood that someone in Montana will see Bigfoot.

Arranged by the likelihood of seeing Bigfoot, the top five states are:

  1. Washington
  2. Oregon
  3. West Virginia
  4. Idaho
  5. Montana

Let's boil it down further. If you live in Montana, you have a 1 in 20,000,000 chance of seeing and reporting a Bigfoot to the Bigfoot Research Organization. That means that, statistically at least, among the 109,950 present inhabitants of Billings, MT, almost five and a half people have seen Bigfoot.

Of course, the actual number might be much higher, since we're only dealing with sightings reported to the "official" organization. We're sure that when you work in drunken stories told to buddies over a beer, during which enormous quantities of bull are said to be shot, the statistic may rise to something like one out of five.

And, just to play Bigfoot's advocate here, it seems pretty likely that a lot of people might not report their Bigfoot sightings out of embarrassment or fear that they won't be taken seriously.

After all, one of our own writers has his own detailed, even melancholic story of the time he saw what was very clearly a lady Bigfoot.
