It's been a wild year for Grizzly 399 this year, as it has been for many of us. She left Yellowstone and Teton's relative safety, where she is often sighted on the roads, to forage in Jackson Hole, where there was a much-increased danger of getting herself in trouble. Then there was the question. Thankfully, now the most famous grizzly in the world and her cubs were going to find enough food to get to hibernation weight before winter set in.
But thanks to a fairly late-onset winter, Grizzly 399 and her cubs have reached their den spot in Teton, and they're looking downright roly-poly. Now they'll probably settle in for a nice long sleep, as I'm sure many of us would like to do too after the holidays.
