Based on the descriptions of the smell, I’m pretty sure I smelled one while hiking in the Sierra Nevadas above Lake Tahoe several years ago. I was on a popular and well-travelled trail, but it was evening and I was the only hiker out there. It was a God-awful smell, which in all my years of hiking, before and since, I have never smelled anywhere else. My brother found what is believed to be Sasquatch hair while packing in on horseback to hunt elk in a very remote area in Washington state.
