I believe every community, state and nation is strengthened by immigrants. In Montana and other places, it is not the immigrants, it's how many. People who come to Montana are not bad in themselves but their sheer number and their economic means have overwhelmed our social norms--those who are already here cannot compete, cannot keep up and are forced out of their homes, communities, and even the state. We have never had a limit on who or how many can come to Montana because we never needed it before. I don't know how we would even impose something like that because it runs counter to both our values and the US Constitution. Like the rest of the country, we are seeing our middle class frayed at the bottom and folks who were once fine with their situation can no longer make it here because folks with means have shoved them out. Montana is no longer the Last Best Place for many people who helped make it that way.
