Your story reminded me of my first car. It too was a '61 Rambler Classic. This one though had the push button automatic on the left side of the dash. It also had the fold down front seats, which I found out about leaning over my girlfriend at the time and pulled the lever, which dropped the back of the seat down. Boy, did she pop up fast! Got it after I had moved to Denver from Dillon in 1972 after graduating from Beaverhead County High School. Drove that puppy all over Denver. Used to race other cars up and down I-25 with it. Outran a few Mustangs too. Yee hah. Drove it until the timing chain broke and left me standing along side the road. Best $125.00 dollars I'd ever spent up to that time. Thanks for the memory.
