When I was growing up, the dentist in our small Montana town, would not use novocaine on children and most adults didn't request it.
When he found a cavity, he would start his drill, put your hand on his wrist and tell you that when it started to hurt just push a little and he would stop.
Nope! When you pushed, he pushed down harder, when you made noise he pushed harder. When it was finally over and he was putting in the amalgam,
he would always say, "That wasn't so bad, was it? Brush your teeth."
No wonder we grew up afraid of dentists!
